FA Cup trip to Cheltenham set to go ahead

The FA has confirmed that Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie between Cheltenham Town and South Shields will go ahead as planned.

There had been uncertainty as to whether the first round match would take place following the latest lockdown measures announced by the Government on Saturday.

Mariners drawn away to Ashton in FA Trophy

South Shields will travel to Ashton United for the third time this season after being drawn against the Robins in the Buildbase FA Trophy.

The date of the first round tie has not yet been confirmed as The FA awaits guidance from the Government as to how the latest lockdown measures announced on Saturday affects men’s non-league football. This round had been due to be played on the weekend of Saturday, November 14.

South Shields 1-0 Colne

Robert Briggs delivered a Halloween treat for South Shields supporters as his second half strike saw off the challenge of Colne in the Buildbase FA Trophy.

In a hard-fought third qualifying round tie at 1st Cloud Arena, Briggs came off the bench to grab the only goal of the game and ensure the Mariners made it three wins in a row in three separate competitions.
