South Shields extended their lead at the top of the Pitching In Northern Premier League to nine points after a 1-1 draw at Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday.
The Mariners were on course to win what was one of their games in hand when Robert Briggs converted a 12th minute penalty following a foul on Dylan Mottley-Henry.
