Boney and Lowe complete loan moves

Goalkeeper Myles Boney and midfielder Nathan Lowe have joined Darlington on loan from South Shields.

The pair have penned month-long deals at Blackwell Meadows, with the Mariners currently unable to play matches or train together due to national coronavirus restrictions.

Darlington’s National League North season is continuing during the national lockdown, meaning Boney and Lowe will be given an opportunity to compete for game-time over the next month.

They are the fourth and fifth Shields players to complete temporary moves to National League North sides, with Blair Adams and Dillon Morse currently at Gateshead, and Jason Gilchrist at York City.

We wish Myles and Nathan well for their loan spells and look forward to seeing them back in Shields colours at the earliest opportunity.

Jason Gilchrist joins York City on loan

Striker Jason Gilchrist has linked up with York City on a month-long loan deal.

With South Shields currently unable to play games or train together due to national coronavirus restrictions, Gilchrist has become the third Mariner to join a National League North side on a temporary basis in a bid for match action.

Gilchrist’s move follows similar deals which took Dillon Morse and Blair Adams to Gateshead last week.

We wish Jason well for his loan spell as he aims to help bolster York’s promotion bid.

Players shine as first SSFC Zoom quiz takes place

Jordan Hunter and Myles Boney had a starring role as the South Shields duo took part in some lockdown fun with supporters on Saturday.

The players competed with fans in the club’s first live quiz on Zoom, which was hosted by Robert Reed.

Jordan and Myles were pipped to top spot by season ticket holder Andy Gardner, though, as his impressive football knowledge got him over the line.

Andy came flying out of the blocks and looked to be storming to victory before Jordan and Myles closed the gap, with the pair missing out on the win by just five points.

In third place was Gavin Black, with David Charlton completing the top four and Nathan Denton and Millie Griffiths finishing fifth.

Andy’s prize for winning the quiz was a hospitality package for two, which he will be able to redeem at a league match in the 2021-22 season.

Second prize was an SSFC scarf and third prize was an SSFC hat. Jordan and Myles opted to gift their prize to fourth-placed David Charlton.
