Captain Blair Adams has committed to a sixth season with his hometown club after penning a new contract at 1st Cloud Arena.

The 31-year-old will lead the Mariners into their debut campaign in National League North following last season’s promotion from the Pitching In Northern Premier League.

Robert Briggs is to get the opportunity to extend his all-time appearance record after signing a deal committing him to South Shields for the 2023-24 season.

Club secretary Philip Reay examined the record books during the off-season and discovered that Briggs surpassed previous record holder Terry Linney when he made his 364th appearance for the Mariners against Warrington Town in April.

The right-back has joined following his departure from Spennymoor Town, where he made 35 appearances in National League North last season.

Jordan Hunter is to leave South Shields FC following the expiration of his contract on June 30th.

Hunter spent four seasons at 1st Cloud Arena after initially arriving on loan from Sunderland in 2019.
