Nathan Lowe marked his 100th appearance for South Shields with the winning goal as the Mariners got the better of a spirited Atherton Collieries side at 1st Cloud Arena.
Lowe struck two minutes into the second half to seal the three points after Sam Hodgson’s early opener had been cancelled out by Gaz Peet.

The Pitching In Northern Premier League match between South Shields and Matlock Town has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 22nd.
The game will kick-off at 7.45pm at 1st Cloud Arena.
It was originally due to be held on Saturday, January 29th but was postponed due to high winds, which affected supporter safety.
All tickets bought for the original date will be valid on February 22nd.

Liam Noble’s penalty just before the hour mark settled the game in favour of the hosts, who were reduced to nine players in the closing stages after receiving two red cards.
