Stratford Town 2-1 South Shields: Late heartbreak for 10-man Mariners

 

Ten-man South Shields suffered late heartbreak on Saturday as Stratford Town struck a 94th-minute winner to knock them out of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

All was going according to plan for the Mariners when they deservedly took a 1-0 lead into half-time thanks to a composed finish from Carl Finnigan.

South Shields 2-1 Hyde United: Mariners through in Buildbase FA Trophy

First half goals from Carl Finnigan and Dillon Morse guided South Shields into the third qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy as they defeated a spirited Hyde United side 2-1 at Mariners Park on Saturday.

The result was a fifth consecutive victory for the upwardly mobile Mariners, who were deserving of their win.
